Anthropologie has some great handbags and wallets right now. The variety is pretty fantastic, too (leather, fabric, patterned, embellished, and lots of colors).

One clutch, in particular, struck me as being very timeless and stylish. It's the envelope-styled, rose-colored Postal Service Clutch. Measuring 6" x 12" with two compartments, two pockets, and six card slots, it's roomy enough to carry around during the day and small enough to easily transition into a night out. @ Anthropologie for $98

While I couldn't find it in rose elsewhere, I tracked it down in grey, deep red, gold, and bronze, four colors that will never go out of style.
